USAID: facade to subvert constitutional order in Cuba

Havana, Feb 13th. - Foreign Affairs Minister Bruno Rodriguez reiterated on Wednesday on social network X the denunciation on the employment against Cuba of organizations such as the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).

According to the highest representative of the diplomacy of this Caribbean nation, between 1998 and 1999 Usaid used more than six million dollars (USD) to execute hundreds of illegal operations on the island.

Between 2001 and 2006, it allocated $61 million for 142 illegal projects and activities against the Cuban people, he added.

Cuba has repeatedly denounced the use of organizations presented as humanitarian or in defense of democracy - USAID among them - as facades to penetrate and undermine societies, impose colonial values and content, control local elites and the press, with the aim of strengthening the hegemonic power of the United States.

Since his arrival at the White House last January, for his second term, Republican Donald Trump launched a crusade led by his donor in the presidential campaign Elon Musk against USAID, to reduce or dismantle parts of the U.S. government, which uncovered the dishonest performance of that agency in the world - an open secret.

According to analysts, the scandalous revelations of the "USAID secrets" made by Trump, Musk and others are due to the purpose of attacking their Democratic rivals and boosting the interests of the United States with less subtle and ruderable methods, in tune with the style of government and the personality of the current president of that country.
