
Camagüey, Feb 19th. - Heritage conservation, greater attention to historical sites and closer working relations with the University of Camagüey, CITMA and the Union of Historians represent priorities for work in 2025 for the Camagüey City Historian’s Office (OHCC).
During its Annual Balance Sheet Assembly, this Tuesday, José Rodríguez Barreras, director of the aforementioned entity, spoke about the importance of cooperating all in the management of human capital, improving working conditions and supporting the families of workers, as well as giving priority to investigations related to the patriots Ignacio Agramonte Loynaz and Joaquín de Agüero.

Rodríguez Barreras also explained about the existence of an inclusion program that currently has eight young people with mental disabilities, and works on applications for deaf, blind and visually impaired people in order to communicate heritage, The institution’s responsibility towards them and their families.
In the stage under analysis, actions were developed to educate, sensitize, train and guide with the aim of minimizing social indisciplines that participants recognized are on the rise.
The Heritage Classrooms project worked with hundreds of children from schools in the Historic Centre during the previous year and it is planned to improve its projections and operation to improve the quality and creativity of the activities scheduled.

Events such as the Symposium on Challenges in the Management and Administration of Cities, the Colloquium The Assembly and the Constitution of Guáimaro in Homeland History, the VIII Edition of the Jorge Enrique Mendoza Historical Research Award, the Alarife Público Award Francisco Arambula highlighted the work of this essential center in consolidating the historical cultural heritage of Camagüey.

Kenny Ortigas Guerrero, director of the cultural sector in the province, said that caring for heritage is also doing with symbols and paradigm, and in this sense the Office preserves the legacy with dedication and elegance, and a certain capacity for self-management and search for financing because it is a guide in international projects.
