Camagüey, Apr 11th. - The Company of Electric Groups and Electric Services (Geysel) in Camagüey recovered, at the end of the first quarter of the current year, 8.8 megawatt (MW), after the repair of a group of engines, with parts and parts received in the first donation from the People's Republic of China.
Carlos Rubio Limonta, director of Geysel in the territory, explained to the Cuban News Agency that the important resources allowed to serve generators of the plants located in the municipalities of Camagüey, Florida and Guáimaro.
In the coming months, he said, three capital maintenances and partial repair are planned, which will make it possible to contribute an additional 7.04 MW to the National Electroenergy System (SEN), in the aforementioned sites.
In general, workers and specialists from the entity carry out internal actions, through which they plan to incorporate a total of 17.5 MW, when the end of this year, he said.
The results of the ongoing tasks are possible thanks to the efforts and dedication of the workers to fulfill their mission in pursuit of the gradual recovery of the SEN, and dedicate them to the 30 years of Geysel, in October, Rubio Limonta said.
Geysel in Camaguey has eight sites in several municipalities in the large region, with an installed capacity of 67.26 MW, of which 44,02 MW are currently available.
Through the supplies of the project Equipment and Replacements of Electric Generators Distributed for Cuba of the Chinese Government, it is estimated that 400 MW of power will be rescued in the country in this type of diesel-based generation.
Last December, the Antillean nation arrived the first of these loads that benefited the Camague power plants, and included radiators, engines and other essential accessories to restore vitality to electricity generators, in response to the national recovery program in the midst of the difficult energy situation.
