Camagüey, April 12th. —Despite limited resources such as fuel and lubricants, the current spring planting campaign is progressing well so far in this municipality.
Engineer Yohan Balón Gómez, deputy mayor in charge of Agriculture, reported to the Board of Directors that 731 hectares were sown in March, a figure higher than expected.
Regarding the priority root vegetables program, he explained that during the previous month, the sweet potato and plantain planting commitments were met, but not the cassava planting commitments.
In the district, efforts are being made to ensure that all 160 districts and 19 people's councils have a vegetable production unit, whether an organic farming operation or a vegetable garden.
Regarding grains, the Camagüey capital intends to stockpile nearly 1,300 tons, nearly 90 percent of which will be corn and the rest beans and rice for consumption. (Rodolfo Medina Hechavarría/Radio Camagüey) (Photo: Taken from the Internet)
