Céspedes, Camagüey, April 24th. - Until next Saturday, April 26, the municipality of Carlos Manuel de Céspedes is joining the 64th National Bivalent Oral Polio Vaccination Campaign, coinciding with the 23rd Vaccination Week of the Americas and the 14th World Immunization Week.
According to Dulce Rodríguez Roque, head of nursing at the Tomas Rojas Rodríguez polyclinic in the town, 508 children over one-month old will benefit in this first phase.
Children in that group who are sick during those days and do not receive the vaccine will have a recovery period between April 28 and May 3.
The second phase of the campaign will take place from June 16th to June 21st, during which another dose will be administered to those who have already received the first dose. The vaccination will also be reactivated for nine-year-old children, with a recovery week between June 24th and 28th.
It is important to remember that infants should not eat or drink water for half an hour before or after receiving the vaccine.
The director also noted that the necessary conditions are in place to carry out the process in the municipality at the medical offices, the polyclinic, and the vaccination centers corresponding to each health area. (Text and photos: Zenia Donet García/Radio Cadena Agramonte)
