Trump: Ukraine will be defeated very soon

Moscow, April 30. - The president of the United States (USA), Donald Trump, stated in an interview with The Atlantic magazine that Ukraine will be defeated very soon and that he is trying to save this country.

"I think I'm saving that nation. I believe that nation will be defeated very soon," he said.

In this context, the president recalled that he was the one who supplied the Ukrainian army with Javelin missiles, and that "that was one of the reasons why the Ukrainian conflict continued." "Now, I could also argue that it's a shame it continued because a lot of people died. A lot more people died in that war than is being reported," he added.

Asked if he is willing to provide "full support" to Ukraine by sending more military equipment if the Russian army continues to advance successfully, Trump responded that "it doesn't have to be weapons." "There are many types of weapons. They don't have to be guns with bullets. They can be guns with sanctions. They can be guns with banks. They can be many other weapons," he noted.

Likewise, Trump referred to Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Store, who last week praised his efforts to end the Russian-Ukrainian conflict.

"The prime minister of Norway, a very respected person, says that if President Trump hadn't gotten involved, this war would never end. I think I'm doing Ukraine a great favor. I believe that," he stated.

In this sense, the American president reiterated that the Ukrainian conflict "would never have happened" if he had been president of the United States at the time it broke out, as he has already done on several occasions.

Thus, on April 26, Trump recalled in a post on Truth Social that the Ukrainian conflict began to escalate during the Barack Obama administration. "This is Sleepy Joe Biden's war, not mine. It was a loss from day one, and it never should have happened, and it wouldn't have happened if I had been president at the time. I'm just trying to clean up the mess Obama and Biden left me," he concluded.

Last week Trump indicated that he has a "deadline date" to resolve the conflict, without specifying it. "And after that, we're going to have a very different attitude. But I think it has a good chance of moving forward," he said.

This Monday, from the Kremlin was reaffirmed "once again" Moscow's willingness to engage with Kyiv "peace negotiations without preconditions, aimed at eliminating the original causes of the Ukrainian crisis."

For his part, the leader of the Kyiv regime, Vladimir Zelensky, stated on April 23 that Ukraine wants to achieve peace with Russia by force and called on the US to use its power and influence to pressure Moscow. (Text and photo: RT)
