Camaguey, May 3rd.- The title and flag of National Avant-garde was handed over to the collective of the business unit of the base business unit of Railway Workshops, whose trajectory has written numerous pages of Labor feat.
The ceremony, held in the Locomotive Courtyard, one of the oldest railway industries in the country, also called for the Central de Trabajadores de Cuba in the province and the Provincial Bureau of the Transport and Port Workers Union to hand over the Lázaro Peña Order of III Degree to Ricardo Acasio González and Ariel Avilés Alfonzo, and the Jesús Menéndez medal to Idelisa Ramos Batista; and to receive distinctions as outstanding other workers in the sector.
During his speech José Raúl Rivero Salazar, general secretary of the Transport and Ports Union, congratulated the collective awarded in the current conditions they have faced decisively, highlighting the active presence of rationalizers and innovators, whose task has been vital in many of the works carried out in the workshops of Camagüey’s railway.
The workers of the Railway Equipment Repair Company of the UEB Talleres Camagüey, whose activity has made possible for years the start-up and service of locomotives and wagons, including the recent conversion of a Yutong bus for urban use, must be recognized in this group, due to be decommissioned to be transformed into an engine car for passengers on the route Vertientes Santa Cruz del Sur.
Among leaders and officials present at the ceremony, Yamisleydis López Fernández, Secretary General of the CTC in the Province and Jesús Camilo Chávez, National Director of the Railroad Equipment Repair Company, attended.
