Camagüey, May 3rd.- After several months of preparation Arisnel Rosales Romero, third-year student of Zootechnic-Veterinary of the Polytechnic Institute of Agriculture (IPA) Martires de Pino 3, reached the first place in this specialty during the recent fifth edition of the Provincial Agricultural Teaching Fair, based in the aforementioned school.

The young man described this result as a personal achievement and one of the best experiences in his professional training, as he had the possibility to demonstrate his skills in taking blood samples and the administration of medicines to livestock.

Arisnel, along with the other two winners of the specialties of agronomy and agriculture, will represent the province at the national event, based in Sancti Spíritus in the coming days of May, an opportunity in which a camagaeyan teacher will also participate, in charge of teaching an instructional methodological class.

Raúl Cuesta López, head of the department of Technical and Professional Education in the province, explained that more than 70 students and 23 teachers from seven polytechnics camagaeyanos participated in the fair, who had the possibility to apply theoretical and practical knowledge in the different productive teaching units and appreciate through an exhibition the machinery and implements that the agriculture system has to promote agricultural development in the province.

In this sense, the veterinary lab, installed on that plant with modern equipment, became one of the scenarios for the demonstration of skills related to the morphology of the internal parasites in the blood transmitted by the tick.

This laboratory, said, Yuniel Montes de Oca González, director of the aforementioned IPA, has equipment with advanced technology that will allow not only the development of peofesional skills, but also to provide services to the producers of Camagueyans.

As part of the event, an establishment for the commercialization of household supplies and agricultural inputs such as machetes, limes, chainsaws, gloves and means of protection was inaugurated, which will bring economic benefits to the IPA and allow students to be linked to the specialty of Accounting.

The participants in the fair were able to appreciate, in the same way, the exhibition of a sample of the more than 200 low, medium and high-power tractors, benefiting from the PRODEGAN project, which facilitate the work of planting, fertilization, among others.
