MediCuba is National Vanguard

Havana, May 10 – Despite the economic challenges Cuba faces, which limit access to markets for supplies and medicines, MediCuba strives to fulfill its mission as a company responsible for contracting and importing the resources necessary to sustain the National Health System.

This, and its social responsibility with the community -providing support for the improvement of living conditions-, as well as the efforts of its workers have allowed the entity to be awarded the status of National Vanguard Collective, a distinction awarded by Dr. Santiago Badía González, general secretary of the National Union of Health Workers.

The Manuel Piti Fajardo distinction was also awarded to four professionals who have stood out in their scientific, investigative and work activities.

In addition, a group of professionals who stood out in the organization and assurance of the XVI International Health for All Fair, the most important commercial exchange in the Cuban health sector, held last April, was recognized.

During this important event, 323 commercial exchanges were carried out that strengthened strategies to complete business, identify new markets for the export and import of products, services and raw materials.

At the end of the Fair, Armando Garrido Beravierte, president of MediCuba S.A, told Granma that his company had signed 37 contracts with international suppliers, which translates into resources that the Island will import to sustain the health system.

There he pointed out that, although with the Fair over, solutions were sought to some problems, it is necessary to continue seeking financing, the capacity to contract, as well as suppliers.

Deputy Health Minister Luis Fernando Navarro Martínez also agreed with this last point today at the event held at MediCuba headquarters. He acknowledged that this group has managed to grow in the face of the limitations of the Health system, very complex due to the lack of financing, and the insurance deficit that has marked the sector after the COVID-19 pandemic.

This is the opportune moment to recognize the efforts of those who guarantee the imported resources that are in the Health system today, he stated.

It is you who work to ensure that these supplies arrive at the necessary and opportune time, despite all the limitations imposed by the economic siege our country is experiencing, Navarro Fernández emphasized. (Text and photo: Granma Digital)
