Havana, May 12.- The Union of Writers and Artists of Cuba (Uneac, for its acronym in Spanish) together with the Cuban Institute of Music will develop between May 12 and 16 a day prior to the International Music Industry Fair Cubadisco 2025, an opportunity to celebrate with musicians, authors and groups the impact on the public and the creators of the great Cuban record fair.
For five days, the spaces of the national headquarters of Uneac will host the musical wealth of Cuba, through presentations of albums and documentaries, panels and specialized debates, as well as concerts with renowned artists and groups.
Proposals such as "Detrás de la Portada" (Behind the Cover) for the presentation of albums and documentaries; "Contracanto," more reflective and integrative about the contexts of Cuban music and its creators, will be among the main events; will be among the main events; in addition to the Wednesday of the Rumba, the Trova sin traba and the Afternoon of the Bolero, destined for concerts on these genres of Cuban roots.
According to Mabel Castillo, president of the Musicians' Association, the event will begin on the afternoon of Monday, May 12, with the screening of the documentaries "Oriki para Bola de Nieve" by director Lourdes de los Santos and "Flautas con aroma de mujer" by Alberto Padrón; while the day's concert will be performed by the Camerata Cortés, directed by Orlando “Maraca” Valle.
On the 13th, the album "Live in Havana" and the documentary "Estrellas del Buena Vista y más" will be presented. The Cuban Son will be discussed in a panel moderated by Nery González Bello, head of the musicology section of Uneac, and with the participation of Pancho Amat, protagonist along with his Cabildo of Tuesday's musical closing.
Wednesday, meanwhile, is reserved for the presentation of the phonogram The blessing of the two waters (Abdala Productions), by the group defending Rumba and Afro-Cuban culture, Madreagua, directed by Roberto Silva, who will offer part of his repertoire in the Wednesday of the Rumba space in the yard Hurón Azul.
From the Unicorn Seal, a day later, there will be the presentation of the Orisha Ayé Collection and the Oggún Multimedia, by Lázaro Ros, followed by a very Cuban performance by singer-songwriters, in the Trova sin Traba space, such as Santa Massiel Rueda, Ana Irma Pérez Perelló, Gladys del Monte and Pedrito Beritán.
Lastly, for Friday, May 16, Detrás de la Portada will distinguish with Producciones Colibrí and the presentation of the album Rumba con swing. Re-creations of Chano Pozo, with the participation of Emilio Morales, Alejandro Falcón and the Abreu Brothers; While Mundito González, Vania Borges, and Daniel Pérez Febles will meet at the Bolero Afternoon, with the Cuerdas Profundas Orchestra conducted by Lázaro Dagoberto González.
Cubadisco 2025 is the largest Record Industry Fair in Cuba and becomes a platform of confluences for projects and actions aimed at giving national music a significant visibility.
