Havana, 30 may. - We will learn to master artificial intelligence (AI) to take advantage of what it offers us and complement it with our intelligences, urged today the academic and Cuban designer Eviel Ramos.
He addressed his thoughtful message to design students and professionals on the occasion of the XII FORMA_25 International Congress, which concludes today focusing on the challenges and perspectives of the use of AI in this discipline, on which Ramos stressed that in design all intelligences are needed.
AI is taking over; it's a tool that helps and poses challenges, but other intelligences are needed to complement it.
The dean of the Faculty of Communication Design at the Instituto Superior de Diseño Industrial (ISdi) explained in a statement to Prensa Latina that if we don't bring a human touch to design, there's no way AI will solve the problems we face.
The dean of the Communication Design faculty at the Higher Institute of Industrial Design (Isdi, for its acronym in Spanish), explained in statements to Prensa Latina that if we do not put the human sense to design, there is no way that AI will solve the problems we have.
The AI, he pointed out, cannot replace the human, nor will it put the ingredients that it needs from a linguistic point of view, interaction, mixing of the different knowledge of marketing, communication and production to make a more social design.
The FORMA_25 Congress has been held in the capital city’s Convention Palace since last Tuesday, with delegates from 10 countries of Latin America and Europe, including Argentina, Chile, Ecuador, Brazil, Mexico, Canada and Portugal.
At the event's opening the day before, ISdi Rector Sergio Luis Peña explained that AI is not fashionable, and what it is about is to live with the new contributions that technology offers humanity, he said.
We designers are creators of this new context, and AI cannot be seen as a substitute for that creation, which must come from human intelligence, articulated and in harmony with artificial intelligence, he emphasized.
FORMA_25 included in its academic program the XII Training Meeting for Design, Communication, and Arts Professionals and the 9th Design and Communication Meeting.
Also included the V International Symposium on Research and Postgraduate in Design; the VII International Forum on Diversity and Sustainable Development; and the 6th International Workshop on Design – Production – Industry. (PL) (Photo: Taken from the Internet)
