Havana, July 10. - Cuba today remembers its National Poet, Nicolás Guillén, on the 123rd anniversary of his birth.
The Secretary of Organization of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba, Roberto Morales, expressed on the social network X that "we will always be proud of his artistic and revolutionary value."
For his part, Prime Minister Manuel Marrero referred to his work and assured that his very Cuban verses continue to call to join, for #Cuba, all hands.
Nicolás Guillén was a poet, journalist and political activist. As an Afro-descendant, he vindicated the black culture within the processes of mestizaje and transculturation, which he called Cuban color. (Text and photo: PL)
