Havana, July 14 – A fair aimed at introducing young people to the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) with personalized training spaces will be held here next Thursday, organizers announced today.
Under the motto Inspiring Action, the event, which will take place at the Havana Computer Palace near Fraternity Park, seeks to help this segment of the population develop their skills in interacting with AI languages, research, and critical thinking.
It also aims to promote good practices through training and the presentation of leading projects, according to a press release from the United Nations System in Cuba, leaders of the project, which is also part of the activities on the Caribbean island for the 80th anniversary of the UN.
In parallel, there will be an exhibition fair featuring projects from the state and non-state sectors that have demonstrated significant leadership in technology management, the statement adds.
The space also envisions that representatives of these initiatives will share lessons learned from their own experience, with the aim of strengthening them as references to efficiently generate AI solutions among the organizations or individuals involved.
The AI fair will promote its ethical use by associating it precisely with solutions in favor of equity, and by critically engaging with potential biases, stereotypes, or discriminations reproduced by the language of this tool, the announcement highlights.
A recent Artificial Intelligence Summit, sponsored by the International Telecommunication Union, emphasized the need for global collaboration to promote the responsible use of AI, as well as its role in strengthening governance models aimed at bridging the digital divide and empowering individuals and groups at risk of being left behind in the use of information and communications technologies.
UNESCO, the Youth Computer Clubs, and the Cuban Association of the United Nations, in conjunction with multiple national entities, are joining the Inspiring Action initiative.
Also participating are the Ministry of Communications, the Faculty of Mathematics and Communication of the University of Havana, the Union of Computer Scientists of Cuba, the University of Computer Sciences, among other entities. (Text and photo: PL)
