Raúl and Díaz-Canel attend the plenary session of the Cuban parliament

Havana, July 16 – With the presence of Army General Raúl Castro Ruz, leader of the Cuban Revolution, and Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and President of the Republic, the Fifth Ordinary Session of the National Assembly of People's Power (ANPP, for its acronym in Spanish) begins today in this capital.

New deputies elected in different territories of the country will take office in the Parliament and the President of the ANPP will be responsible for the introduction of the plenary.

From the Palace of Conventions in Havana, on this Wednesday, Manuel Marrero Cruz, member of the Political Bureau and Prime Minister of the Republic, is scheduled to intervene. He will provide an update on the status of compliance with the Government Projections to correct distortions and re-boost the economy, including perspectives on the impact of the approved measures and their main challenges.

Joaquín Alonso Vázquez, Minister of Economy and Planning, will report on the economy's performance at the close of the first half of this year.

The 2025 State Budget implementation update and the 2024 budget settlement will also be held, led by Vladimir Regueiro Ale, Minister of Finance and Prices.

In previous days, the members of the permanent work commissions of the supreme organ of state power held meetings to discuss the most important topics on the current national agenda. (Source: ACN)
