China reaffirms support for Cuba and condemns the US blockade

Havana, July 25 – In the framework of the 98th anniversary of the founding of the Chinese People's Liberation Army, celebrated in the Cuban capital, the Asian country's ambassador, Hua Xin, reiterated his nation's firm support for Cuba and categorically rejected the intensification of the United States blockade and sanctions against the island.

During the commemorative event, Hua emphasized that "China will always stand up for Cuba in defense of justice" and congratulated the Cuban people and army on the occasion of the 72nd anniversary of the attacks on the Moncada and Carlos Manuel de Céspedes barracks.

The diplomat urged the preservation of historical memory, the defense of the authority of the United Nations, and the rejection of unilateralism, protectionism, and hegemonism, which, he warned, constitute serious challenges to global stability.

In his speech, Hua Xin recalled that this year marks the 80th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese people's War of Resistance against Japanese aggression, as well as the Second World War and the founding of the UN.

"In that war, the Chinese people, with immense national sacrifice, fought on the main battlefield in the east and made important contributions to the victory of the global anti-fascist war," he emphasized.

He announced that solemn events will be held in his country in September to reaffirm the commitment to peace and present the latest advances in weapons and military equipment.

The ambassador also praised the work of Colonel Luo Tiefeng, defense attaché at the Chinese Embassy in Havana, who is about to conclude his mission after more than four years. He highlighted his role in strengthening ties between the two armed forces.

"During his more than four years of work in Cuba, he has worked tirelessly and has positively contributed to strengthening friendly exchanges and cooperation between the two armed forces," he emphasized.

For his part, Colonel Luo expressed admiration for the Cuban people and praised the active role of the People's Liberation Army in humanitarian work, border defense and the fight against secessionism.

The event was attended by Cuban authorities, including Army Corps General Álvaro López, Minister of the Revolutionary Armed Forces, along with other high-ranking officers. (Text and Photo: Cubadebate)
