Ciego de Ávila, July 26. - Army General Raúl Castro Ruz, leader of the Cuban Revolution, and Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC, for its acronym in Spanish) and President of the Republic, presided the national central event for the National Rebellion Day.
Hosting the historic commemoration for the fourth time, the territory's Máximo Gómez Báez Revolution Square welcomed approximately 10,000 Ciego de Ávila residents, representing the entire Cuban people, at dawn on Santa Ana Day.
Also participating in the celebration of the 72nd anniversary of the assault on the Moncada and Carlos Manuel de Céspedes barracks were Commander of the Revolution Ramiro Valdés Menéndez; José Ramón Machado Ventura, Commander of the Rebel Army; Roberto Morales Ojeda, Secretary of Organization of the Party Central Committee; Manuel Marrero Cruz, Prime Minister; as well as other members of the Political Bureau and the Secretariat of the PCC Central Committee; members of the Councils of State and Ministers, among other political and governmental authorities of the nation and territory.
Also accompanying the people of Ciego de Ávila were some 370 friends representing 23 countries, organized into eight solidarity projects from Latin America and the Caribbean, Africa, Europe, and the United States. (Source: ACN)
