The Ministry of Justice strengthens actions for gender equality

Havana, July 30.-The Gender Committee of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Cuba (MINJUS) is working to strengthen institutional articulation against gender-based violence and in favor of human rights.

According to the official MINJUS Facebook profile, representatives of Bufete Internacional S.A. and the System's Research Center reported on the actions developed in the last period, with significant advances in terms of awareness, Legal assistance and capacity building to deal with violent behaviour.

Rosabel Gamón, First Deputy Minister of MINJUS, emphasized that, although the challenges are many, the sustained functioning of the committee allows to lay the foundations for society to understand that gender violence constitutes a real barrier to the full enjoyment of human rights.

In this sense, Gamón stressed that its eradication requires a transversal approach from the legal and educational spheres.

According to the publication, this monitoring and systematization exercise reaffirms the Ministry of Justice's commitment to gender equality and the eradication of all forms of violence against women. (Source: ACN)
