Ávoris promotes tourism in Cuba with key agencies

Havana, July 31 – Ávoris Business Corporation is strengthening its strategy in the Caribbean, with Cuba as one of its priority destinations. In collaboration with the Gaviota Tourism Group and Meliá Hotels International, the tour operator Travelplan, part of Ávoris, is organizing an ambitious action for September.

More than 400 travel agents from Spain and Portugal will travel to the island between September 12 and 19, as part of the VII Gaviota Destinations Tourism Fair, a key event for the sector in Cuba.

The destination, which faced a decline in arrivals in 2024, is seeking to revitalize its tourism industry with new regulations that facilitate operations and the use of foreign currency. The agents will fly on direct flights with Iberojet, Ávoris's airline, from Madrid and Lisbon to Santa Clara. The itinerary includes stays at the Paradisus Los Cayos and Meliá Trinidad Península resorts, combining professional training with tourism experiences.

This initiative comes from the "Selling Cuba Has a Prize" contest, launched by Travelplan in early 2025 to encourage the sale of the destination. Participants will enjoy activities such as catamaran sailing, hiking in Topes de Collantes and visits to Trinidad, with the aim of getting to know the product first-hand and promoting it more effectively, according to Hosteltur.

Pura Sevilla, Travelplan's Brand Manager, affirms that these actions strengthen the confidence of agents and turn them into key influencers. The company reaffirms its commitment to Cuba as a strategic market and highlights collaboration with the professional channel as a driver of sustainable growth.

In May, Cuban Prime Minister Manuel Marrero announced reforms to modernize the sector, including greater flexibility in the use of foreign currency and international cooperation projects, such as the leasing of state facilities. (Text and Photo: Cubasí)
