Esteban Lazo holds bilateral meetings in Geneva (+ Post)


Havana, July 31. - Esteban Lazo, president of Cuba's National Assembly of People's Power, met today with his counterparts from Angola and Namibia, as part of the Sixth World Conference of Speakers of Parliament, which runs until Thursday in Geneva, Switzerland.

Bilateral meetings with other parliamentary leaders were part of Esteban Lazo's work program during the event, in addition to his participation in the general debate, panels, and other forums.

The Cuban legislative reports on X that who is also president of the Council of State held an exchange with Carolina Cerqueira, president of the National Assembly of Angola.

Also present was the delegation that accompanied the parliamentary leader, composed of Ambassador Rodolfo Benítez, Permanent Representative to the UN in Geneva; the deputy Marta Hernández Romero, coordinator of the permanent working committees of the National Assembly of People’s Power; and Jesús Rafael Mora, Director of International Relations of the Legislative.

During the day, Esteban Lazo also met with Saara Kuugogelwa Amadhila, President of the National Assembly of the Republic of Namibia.

Since his arrival in Geneva this Tuesday, the president of the Cuban legislature held exchanges with the President of the Council of the Federal Assembly of Russia, Valentina Matvienko; the parliamentary leaders of Vietnam, Tran Thanh Man; and Turkey, Numan Kurtulmus; and the President and Secretary-General of the Inter-Parliamentary Union, Tulia Ackson and Martin Chungong, respectively.

He also met with Zhao Leji, Chairman of the Standing Committee of the Chinese National People’s Assembly; with the President of the Cambodian National Assembly, Khuon Sudary; with the President of the Chamber of Deputies of Equatorial Guinea, Solomon Nguema Owono; with Rawhi Fatooh, head of the Palestinian National Council, and Tatiana Valovaya, Director-General of the United Nations Office at Geneva.
