Training of doctors in Medical Education Sciences begins


Havana, August 5.- The Scientific Council of the Institute of Hematology and Immunology (IHI), based in this capital, has begun training doctors in Medical Education Sciences for their ability to manage research and knowledge management programs, reported the Havana Citizen Portal.

The initiative to have such professionals will position the IHI as a benchmark in the advanced training of human resources and put it on a par with universities and centers of high academic and scientific level in this area of science, the aforementioned site added, cited by the newspaper Tribuna de La Habana.

Due to its scientific and academic development, it continued, it can recruit experts capable of researching and contributing original knowledge on how medicine is taught and learned, with a view to generating improvements in their training.

Furthermore, its graduates can design, implement, and evaluate educational processes in the medical sciences, which will make them more effective and better respond to problems and needs.

They also foster a high research culture with staff capable of leading teams, promoting research projects, participating in scientific events, publishing in specialized journals and thus contributing to the institutional progress and the health system.

In turn, the institution's Scientific Council approved two research projects for the Doctoral Program in Biomedical Sciences, which will allow the first two professionals at the institution to obtain a Doctorate in Medical Education Sciences degree.

One of them is the Comprehensive Technological Model for Continuing and Permanent Training at the Institute of Hematology and Immunology, by Wilfredo Roque García; and the other, Research Competencies for Hematology Residents at the Institute of Hematology and Immunology, by Yamilé Barceló Pérez.

The same was done with the project "Contribution to Strengthening the Scientific Production and Communication of Professionals at the Institute of Hematology and Immunology", by Doctor of Science Manuel Colás Chávez, in order to outline actions to positively influence the visibility of research.
