Camagüey resumes assembly of biodigesters for biogas production

Camagüey, August 7.- After a hiatus due to various reasons, Camagüey resumed the installation of new biodigesters for the production of biogas, an efficient renewable energy source.

Rosario Camejo Martínez, president of the Cuban Association of Animal Production (ACPA, for its acronym in Spanish) in Camagüey, said that as part of the international project: Support for Food and Nutritional Security with a Gender and Generational Approach (Caproca), nine of these devices were installed and another six are in the installation phase, benefiting farmers on farms in the municipalities of Guáimaro and Jimaguayú.

The ACPA has taken it very seriously to consolidate this program due to the benefits it brings to the economy and the environment, and as an organization, it managed nine new ones, which are in the process of being implemented.

The biodigesters are purchased in Santa Clara, where the Insurance and Comprehensive Service Company for Livestock is located.

According to the company's commercial director, Leinier Gómez Linares, it has a capacity of 10 cubic meters, a lifespan of 10 to 15 years, and a cost of 2,500 pesos.

Biogas can be used like any other fuel, both for cooking, replacing firewood, kerosene, and liquefied gas, and for lighting with adapted lamps. (Enrique Atiénzar Rivero/Radio Cadena Agramonte Contributor) (Photo: Taken from the Internet)
