Friends of the philately will honor Fidel Castro in the National Library


Havana, August 8.- The Circulating Room of the José Martí National Library of Cuba will be the space where friends of the philately will pay tribute to Fidel Castro on August 13, coinciding with the 99th anniversary of his birth.

According to Professor Juan Hernández Machado, National Philatelic Prize winner in 2012, who informed our editorial team, the event will begin at 10:00 a.m. and will be open to all those interested in learning about relevant aspects of the life and work of the Commander in Chief of the Cuban Revolution.

Under the title Travels of the Commander in Chief, as seen by philately, this presentation will be the first in a program of activities designed to honor the memory of the historic leader, which will run until August 2026, the centenary of his birth.

Philately will serve as a tool to explore, through postal items, his trips to Venezuela, the United States, Argentina, Brazil, Uruguay, and the United Nations headquarters, detailing the objectives of each visit and the experiences he had.

Our informant adds that philatelists, historians, literacy teachers, and combatants of the Revolution will participate in this meeting, and that the invitation is extended to students of all levels and anyone interested.

The program includes other presentations, one per month, on the following topics: Fidel in Cuban Agricultural Development, Development of Cuban science, Essential: Defending national culture, and the Importance of education, corresponding to the months of September, October, November and December of this year, respectively.

The following conferences are planned for 2026: in January, The Importance of Studying History; in February, The Most Important: Children and Youth; in March, The extremely important contribution of women; in April, Those who know how to defend themselves triumph; in May, Industrialization in Cuba; June, The power of the people, That's power!; July, Settle our debt to humanity; and August, The Party and unity, pillars of victory.

The dates of the meetings will be defined the previous month, depending on the activities of the Circulating Room, and will be informed in due time. Excellent opportunities for the new generations to approach in greater depth the trajectory of Fidel Castro. (Text and photo: Radio Enciclopedia)
