Havana, August 13.- Cuban Prime Minister Manuel Marrero today remembered brothers Sergio and Luis Saíz Montes de Oca, 68 years after their assassination.
Through the social media platform X, he expressed that multiplying Fidel's legacy also means paying tribute to the fallen of the homeland and asserted that the brothers' example continues to inspire Cuban youth.
For his part, the secretary of the organization of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba, Roberto Morales, added: "We remember the brothers, whose young lives were cut short by a henchman of the Batista dictatorship on a day like today. Their example is multiplied".
On the night of August 13, 1957, the two courageous young men were murdered in the Pinar del Río town of San Juan y Martínez. The crime, which stirred popular indignation, demonstrated the extent to which the prevailing regime was leading the country to barbarism, and, in turn, revealed the purity of a generation that, even though it died early, left behind as legacy the vigorous influence of the example.
