SEAP begins program for Fidel's centennial


Havana, August 14.-The Economic Society of Friends of the Country (SEAP, for its acronym in Spanish) began a program of 11 scientific and cultural activities on August 13th to commemorate the centennial of the birth of the Revolution's supreme leader, Commander in Chief Fidel Castro Ruz.

Its activities will run until August 13, 2026, and include the Education, Culture, Environment, Social Sciences, and Economics and Science sections, as well as the regional chapters in Pinar del Río, Artemisa, Matanzas, Camagüey, and Holguín, the institution announced in a statement.

The Scientific Council is also involved, with the goal of bringing us closer to the intense life and work of the exceptional statesman, it added.

“On this August 13, 2025, the 99th anniversary of the undefeated Commander in Chief, the SEAP Governing Board extends a revolutionary greeting to the Cuban people for the privilege of living their era in the land of his birth”.

On January 9, 1793, the Economic Society of Friends of the Country was founded. It is recognized as Cuba's oldest non-governmental organization, because from its founding, it sought to resolve some of the nation's problems and promote its economic and sociocultural development, according to historians.
