Under the slogan "The present is for struggle and the future is ours," the event demonstrated the development and consolidation of the Columns Movement, which brought together more than 45,000 young people mobilized in the tasks of sugar harvest, agriculture in general, and construction, among other "shock works."

The National Committee of the UJC guided the formation of the Brigade, with more than 170 young people in the agencies of the central administration of the State, those who voluntarily joined it and who became one of the most productive forces in the country.

However, they not only built internships for students in the seventh to tenth grades, but also social works, and participated in the unloading of cement in bulk from ships in the port of Nueva Gerona, as well as recreational, cultural and sporting activities.
