Florida, Camagüey, September 11. -From September 1st to February 28, 2026, the cold season campaign for the planting of various crops will take place in Florida. This call will involve all forms of traditional agricultural production, the agro-sugar sector, and popular movements within and outside the city.
The plan for this phase calls for the planting of root vegetables, vegetables, grains, and fruit trees on more than 3,200 hectares of land distributed among companies, cooperatives, and other local agricultural entities.
The mobilization of groups and the support of the people will be key to achieving success in this goal, considering the labor shortage in several locations and the need to take advantage of favorable climate and soil conditions at the crucial times for sowing seeds.
The official opening of the cold-weather planting campaign in the region took place this weekend at the farm of Advanced Producer Jorge Hernández Mesa of the Mártires de Florida Cooperative Production Basic Unit (UBPC, for its acronym in Spanish), where a group of volunteers from different sectors planted approximately two hectares of beans.
