Minas, Camagüey, September 14. -The Carlos Marx Agricultural Production Cooperative (CPA), located in the municipality of Minas, continues its efforts to prepare the land needed for the cold season, according to leaders of the National Association of Small Farmers.
Oliverio Rodríguez, the Agriculture delegate in the territory, emphasized that this peasant group is working hard to improve its results and increase production for the people, despite the difficulties it faces. The scarcity of resources and fuel limits the use of agricultural machinery for plowing the soil, which represents a significant challenge in their work.
He emphasized that despite the intense drought affecting the region, significant efforts are being made to prepare the land. Alternatives are being explored, such as the use of animal traction, which is considered a viable solution to meet the established commitments. This will ensure efficiency in the preparation of a greater number of hectares, where various crops and vegetables will be planted, including tomatoes, cabbage, and lettuce.
The cooperative, which excels in the production of these crops, seeks to diversify its strategies to carry out this crucial task, which is essential to achieving production goals during the cold season, a period in which approximately 60 percent of the annual production is generated.
Despite the current challenges, this agricultural CPA, like others in Minas Gerais, is striving to meet the goals set for the year, facing the difficult conditions imposed by the drought. (Text and photo: Roilán Pérez Agüero/La Voz del Bayatabo, Minas)
