Training on Social Communication Law strengthens capacities in Jimaguayú (+ Photos)

Jimaguayú, Camagüey, September 15. -Executives, officials, and communicators from this municipality participated in a training session on Social Communication Law 162, taught by Susana Cortez Machado, head of the Media Communication, Advertising, and Sponsorship Department of the Institute of Information and Social Communication (ICS, for its acronym in Spanish) in Camagüey.

The conference, held as part of the implementation of the legal regulation, aimed to delve into the scope and challenges of this law, described by authorities as democratic, modern, and historic.

The activity is part of efforts to extend the culture of communication to all sectors of Cuban society.

During the training, Cortez Machado explained that the law establishes a comprehensive regulatory framework for communication processes in the organizational, media, and community spheres.

"It recognizes the existence of fundamental means of social communication and other media," she noted, referring not only to traditional media such as radio, television, and newspapers, but also to serial publications, websites, and newsletters from various institutions.

One of the highlights was the focus on community communication, which transcends physical space to define itself as a community of interests.

The law promotes inclusive, ethical, responsible, and safe communication practices that include groups such as animal rights associations, people with disabilities, and LGBTQ+ communities.

The training reflects the comprehensive approach of the law, which also regulates advertising, sponsorship, cybercommunication, and the country's image and brand, allowing state and non-state economic actors to advertise under specific regulations that protect vulnerable groups.
