Florida, Camagüey, September 25. - The National Exercise to strengthen the rejection of drugs, active since September 22, has as its main objective the prevention of harmful substance use within the educational sector.
According to Master Arián García, deputy director of the Education Sector in the municipality of Florida, the fundamental intention is to prepare management structures, workers, students, and, crucially, families to foster attitudes of rejection toward drugs and promote behavioral norms aligned with the ethical and moral principles of the socialist society being built in Cuba.
The planned actions for the week cover all educational levels and are adapted to the characteristics of each age group. The exercise is implemented from EARLY childhood involving workers and families, through primary and special education, focusing on fifth and sixth grades; it also extends to junior high school, senior high school, and youth and adult education, where work is done with all groups and detachments based on specific diagnostics.
The implementation of this plan has multisectoral support, which is key to its effectiveness.
García highlighted the coordination with authorities from the Party, the Government, the Ministry of the Interior, the Attorney General's Office, Public Health, the Union of Young Communists, the University Student Federation, and the Committees for the Defense of the Revolution, with whom training sessions and neighborhood debates will be held.
The municipality’s educational strategy for drug rejection is supported by various tools and actors and is integrated into the school curriculum through audiovisual products, such as the contest "Lights for Life" and television programs. (Text and Photo: Radio Florida)
