Lantigua and Agroecology in Guáimaro: A Project to Learn (+ Photos)

Guáimaro, Camagüey, September 27 - René Lantigua Rodríguez has found the key to the land. This farmer from Guáimaro, a member of the Álvaro Barba Machado Credit and Services Cooperative, and an admirer of nature and bees, has set out to make them productive by applying all the knowledge that experience has given him.

With this effort, he inspires values like hard work and love for labor in his family: his wife, children, and even the little one at home participate in the hands-on contact with the land on the “Juan Mayans” farm, where bees, cattle, goats, and crops coexist.

“The lands that were once cultivated are now being recovered with axe, machete, and a lot of willpower. This farm, dedicated to beekeeping protection, genetic improvement, and agroecological practices, advances every day without rest,” Lantigua states.

The Local Development Project he leads offers students of Agronomy, Veterinary Medicine, and anyone eager to learn a conducive environment for knowledge, while Guáimaro takes pride in the contributions of this innovator, who is also a teacher for the new generations of agricultural producers.
