Inside Song: the trova that still beats from Miguel Escalona (+ Photos)

Camagüey, Oct. 6 - Monday dawned different in Camagüey. From early in the morning, young troubadours, musicians, and members of the Hermanos Saíz Association (AHS) walked together to the resting place of Miguel Escalona, ??an essential figure of Cuban trova.

The pilgrimage, filled with chords, flowers, and singing silences, marks the beginning of a new edition of the Inside Song event, which each year pays tribute to the creator's legacy and celebrates the strength of the young troubadour movement in the country.

The event was not only a tribute, but also a reunion with the dreams of Escalona, ??the troubadour who made simplicity a language of eternity. Amid guitars and verses, the young people reaffirmed that his presence remains alive in every song that is born from the truth of the soul.

Ada Dulce Naranjo, event organizer and head of the Music section at the Camagüey AHS, commented that this year's Canto adentro has a special feature: "We're reviving one of Escalona's most cherished dreams: combining trova with chamber music. It will be an exchange between the Camagüey Chamber Orchestra and the region's young troubadours movement, a fusion that demonstrates the relevance and richness of trova within the island's musical landscape."

The event will feature guests from all over the country, and its performances and concerts will extend to different cultural spaces throughout the region with the aim of bringing the House of the Young Creator to the people and promoting the trova from the proximity, from that public which recognizes it as part of its identity and makes it its own.

Because Escalona continues to be a presence; his work, marked by poetry, authenticity, and a deep love for his land and its people, transcends generations. In his verses, the certainty remains that true art never dies, it only changes its voice.

From October 17th to 19th, Camagüey will once again celebrate and promote trova as a debt, after being unable to hold it last year. In times when it might seem daring to hold a national event, the Hermanos Saíz Association of Camagüey remains committed to promoting young art as a platform for the multiple creative looks of new artists so that they find there safe port to explore their visions.
