Cuba recognizes Brazil for hosting COP30

Havana, November 10 - Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla, Cuba's Minister of Foreign Affairs, congratulated the Brazilian government today for hosting the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP30).

In his message, the Foreign Minister recognized Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva and the people of Belém, where the event officially begins this Monday and runs until November 21.

In his message, the head of Cuban diplomacy reiterated his country's commitment to contributing to the success of the COP, which, he emphasized, has the mission of renewing the commitment to multilateralism and accelerating the implementation of the Paris Agreement on its tenth anniversary.

According to Rodríguez Parrilla, in terms of climate change, more support is urgently needed for those who need it most.

"We view with concern the increase in defense budgets and the growing diversion of massive financial and technological resources towards new wars, while the solutions demanded and required by the Global South are postponed," he warned.

The Paris Agreement, in force since 2016, includes commitments from all countries to reduce their emissions, as well as a path for developed nations to help those that are developing to mitigate and adapt to climate change. (ACN) (Photo: Taken from the Internet)
