Havana, November 25 - Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla, Cuban Minister of Foreign Affairs, thanked the nations of Ibero-America for their support of the United Nations General Assembly resolution of October 29, which demanded an end to the United States' economic, commercial, and financial blockade against Cuba.
Speaking at the virtual meeting of foreign ministers of Ibero-American countries on Monday, the Cuban Foreign Minister stressed that, despite pressure from Washington, these nations remained firm in their support for the initiative presented at the United Nations (UN), Cubaminrex reported.
Rodríguez Parrilla warned of threats to peace and security in the region and called for the rejection of the escalation of the current US offensive military deployment in the Caribbean Sea, considering it a violation of the UN Charter and International Law.
The minister stressed that preserving Latin America and the Caribbean as a Zone of Peace is a shared interest and reiterated that cooperation is the main purpose of the Ibero-American Conference.
In this regard, he emphasized the need to address the demands of the developing countries that comprise the mechanism, in order to close the gap that separates them, which requires political will and solidarity.
Looking ahead to the upcoming Ibero-American Summit in Madrid in 2026, Rodríguez Parrilla stated that this space must be consolidated as an inclusive and participatory forum, where respect for diversity prevails and the consensus reached is preserved.
Cuba confirmed its commitment to contribute to the success of the meeting, which is expected to advance cooperation proposals and reaffirm the region as a benchmark for peace and understanding. (Source: ACN)
