Díaz-Canel pays tribute to the founding fathers of the Homeland (+ Post)

Havana, November 27 - Miguel Díaz-Canel, President of the National Defense Council, paid tribute today at the Santa Ifigenia Cemetery in Santiago de Cuba to the Founding Fathers of the Homeland, before beginning his work agenda in that eastern city.

The Presidency reported on its social media that the tribute included a floral offering to Mariana Grajales, Mother of the Homeland and of the Maceo, on the 132nd anniversary of her death.

Later, the First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba honored Carlos Manuel de Céspedes, Father of the Homeland, who initiated the struggles for independence in the XIX century.

The president laid flowers at the mausoleum of José Martí, Cuba's National Hero and the inspiration behind the revolutionary movement.

He then paid tribute to the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution, Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro Ruz, of whom he recently said: "He continues to speak to us from the immortality of his ideas and the strength of his legacy," the Presidency noted.
