Camagüey, Dec 10.- With the objective of evaluating compliance with Law 148 on Food Sovereignty and Food and Nutritional Security, 11 control actions, nine compliance audits, and two inspections by the General Comptroller's Office of the Republic were carried out in 11 entities across five municipalities, as part of the 17th National Verification of Internal Control in Camagüey province.
Iliana Mirabal Torres, Chief Comptroller of the Quality Department at the Provincial Comptroller's Office, explained that, according to the verification performed, Law 148 is not being properly implemented, as widespread non-compliances were detected in agricultural and livestock production, as well as in the fulfillment of state order.
Similarly, she specified that there are deficiencies in the contracting process, difficulties in price formation, and poor functioning in retail commercialization, among other problems.

She added that food is not being produced in a sustainable manner, nor is the capacity achieved to cover the needs of the territories, while difficulties were also evident in the Municipal Administration Councils (CAM, for its acronym in Spanish) of Nuevitas and Camagüey regarding price agreements.
During the process, she pointed out, it was demonstrated that the contracting of agricultural production is not effective, productive linkages with non-state forms of management are not achieved, while five entities showed overfulfillment in sales values and three companies showed losses.
Based on the results of the Verification, she recommended that the CAMs prioritize attention to agro-industrial enterprises, so that strategic alliances, productive linkages, and access to technologies that favor increased efficiency and improvement of their financial situation can be achieved.

At the same time, she emphasized that the price agreement committees must issue each value regularly, supported by cost sheets, quality, and the commercial margin.
The XVII National Verification of Internal Control involved 95 participants, including auditors, students, and experts.
During the meeting, Miguel Catalá Borges, the Chief Comptroller in the province, insisted that the fundamental purpose is that, following the conclusion of this exercise, the causes and conditions that generated the results are determined. (Source: ACN)
