
Sancti Spíritus, Dec 10. - The crash of an 18-1832 model irrigation plane, belonging to the National Aerial Services Company, into the offices located on the runway in the community of Las Nuevas, in the Sancti Spíritus municipality of La Sierpe, caused material damage to that infrastructure today, but no injuries have been reported.
Deivy Pérez Martín, a member of the Central Committee and first secretary of the Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba in Sancti Spíritus, reported on the social network Facebook that the incident occurred around 6:55 a.m. and, preliminarily, it is known that a brake failure in the aircraft caused it to impact the administrative building.
According to the party leader's publication, the pilot and the technician traveling in the plane suffered no harm.
At the time of writing this note, a commission of experts was traveling to the scene to assess the causes of the accident.
The municipality of La Sierpe is located in the south of the Sancti Spíritus territory and its geography is known for its extensive terraces dedicated to rice plantations, a crop in which aerial means are used for fumigation. (Source: ACN) (Photo: Internet)
