Havana, Dec. 24 - A panel discussion on Fidel Castro and international solidarity will kick off the events commemorating the 65th anniversary of the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples (ICAP, for its acronym in Spanish) here next Saturday. ICAP was founded by the Commander-in-Chief on December 30, 1960.
This commemorative session will be held at the institution's headquarters, with directors of the Fidel Castro Center participating as panelists. It will also include remarks from activists, representatives of organizations, and members of the international movement supporting the island, who traveled to Havana to celebrate the anniversary, making personal financial sacrifices to cover their travel and accommodation expenses.
The ICAP anniversary celebration, dedicated to Fidel Castro just days before the start of his centennial year, will take place from the 27th to the 29th of this month. On the first day, the book “The Solidarity of the Peoples, Always with Cuba” will be presented, reflecting the Commander-in-Chief's ties to the institution throughout its history.
The opening day at the Fidel Castro Center also includes the inauguration of the photographic exhibition "ICAP, solidarity and the Cuban Revolution", the cancellation of a commemorative stamp and a musical space with the performance of troubadours.
Sunday the 28th will feature a nationwide Volunteer Work Marathon in the morning with more than 260 friends from some 30 countries and the participation of ICAP's provincial delegations, while the afternoon will be dedicated to a “Cultural party of nations” at the House of Friendship.
Among the activists are the 120 members from 23 countries of the solidarity and volunteer brigade "65th Anniversary of ICAP," which has been active since the beginning of this week. The 53rd contingent from the Venceremos Brigade, based in the United States, with 40 members, will join them soon.
Monday the 29th will be the main event of the ICAP anniversary for its 65 years of work promoting friendship, building bridges between peoples and practicing receiving and offering solidarity, the essence of the Cuban Revolution. (ACN) (Photo: Taken from the Internet)
