Havana, Jan. 1st.- The President of Turkmenistan, Serdar Berdimuhamedov, sent congratulatory messages to his Cuban counterpart, Miguel Díaz-Canel, on the occasion of the national holiday and the New Year.
As reported by the Cuban Ambassador to the Central Asian nation (based in Baku), Carlos Valdés, in one of the messages, Berdimuhamedov extended his most sincere congratulations and best wishes to the Cuban leader on the occasion of the National Holiday and Liberation Day.
In the second missive, the Turkmen head of state congratulated the Cuban people on the arrival of the New Year 2026, wishing the president good health, happiness, and success in his noble work, which contributes to the strengthening of cooperation and mutual understanding in the international arena.
Valdés specified that, in both messages, Berdimuhamedov took the opportunity to wish peace, progress, and prosperity to the people of Cuba.
Both nations established diplomatic relations in March 1992, following the declaration of independence of the Central Asian country after the dissolution of the Soviet Union, of which it was one of the 15 constituent republics.
Since then, relations between Turkmenistan and Cuba have been characterized by friendship and cooperation, focused on mutual support in international forums and the strengthening of political and economic ties. These are fraternal and solid relations, based on solidarity, with a clear will to deepen collaboration—especially in the multilateral and economic spheres—despite the geographical distance, and always with a background of mutual support in international forums.
