
Havana, Jan 2. - Concluding the year 2025 with research results primarily focused on the genetic improvement of beans and potatoes, the Institute of Plants Biotechnology of Villa Clara, a leading center for plant science in Cuba, bid farewell to the year.
Raúl Collado López, director of the institution, stated that although they were truly challenging 12 months, research at this scientific center, created by Fidel, advanced by leaps and bounds.
He added that the center also successfully developed plant immunity inducers for potato and banana cultivation and promoted the propagation of cocoa through somatic embryogenesis, as well as citrus rootstocks through biotechnology.
