Cuban authorities congratulate the National Revolutionary Police

Havana, Jan 5.- Cuban authorities today sent congratulations to the National Revolutionary Police (PNR, for its acronym in Spanish) on the occasion of the 67th anniversary of its founding, highlighting its role in service to the people and its revolutionary legacy.

President Miguel Díaz-Canel recalled on social media platform X that the creation of the PNR on January 5, 1959, changed the island's history: "The abuse by the dictatorship's police forces came to an end, and a new Police force was born in service to the people and their Revolution."

For his part, the President of the National Assembly of People's Power, Esteban Lazo, recognized the members of the institution as "true Blue Heroes," noting that they are "protagonists of daily feats and the defense of the security and peace of our people."

The Secretary of Organization of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC, for its acronym in Spanish), Roberto Morales, emphasized that "the Party and the people recognize the commendable work" of the PNR, in a congratulatory message also disseminated on social media.

From the Government, Prime Minister Manuel Marrero highlighted the historical origin of the institution: "The PNR, with its genesis in the Rebel Army on the initiative of then-Commander Raúl Castro, remains an impregnable bastion in defense of order and public tranquility."

The creation of the National Revolutionary Police aimed to establish an exemplary institution and erase from the memory of Cubans the image of repression, abuse, and corruption that characterized that body during the dictatorship of Fulgencio Batista (1952-1958).

Today, the fundamental mission of the armed body is focused on preserving public order, public tranquility, and traffic safety. (Source: Prensa Latina) (Photo: Internet)
