Cuban students reaffirm solidarity with Venezuela

Havana, Jan 5.- Students from the Federation of High School Students (FEEM, for its acronym in Spanish) of Cuba today reaffirmed their solidarity with the people of Venezuela following the military aggression by the United States and the kidnapping of its constitutional president, Nicolás Maduro.

They also expressed the grief of the Cuban people upon learning that 32 Cubans, who were serving on missions representing the Revolutionary Armed Forces and the Ministry of the Interior, lost their lives during the combat operations. In homage to these heroes, they observed a minute of silence.

The FEEM denounced that imperialist bombs have once again fallen on Our America, this time on Venezuelan territory and its people, in the city of Caracas and the states of Miranda, Aragua, and La Guaira.

A flagrant violation of the Charter of the United Nations, especially Articles 1 and 2, which enshrine respect for sovereignty, the legal equality of states, and the prohibition of the use of force. This aggression threatens regional and international peace and stability and seriously endangers the lives of millions of people, including young people and students.

Therefore, it is vitally important to strengthen the integration and coordination of our student movements within the Latin American and Caribbean continental student organization to condemn this offensive.

In statements to the press, Kirenia Osorio, the Director General of Education for the Cerro municipality, explained that each educational center is holding a strong and resounding act of rejection of the US actions against Venezuela.

She added that once again, state terrorism and the Monroe Doctrine are evident, which has not changed its vision for Latin America: America for the North Americans.

She specified that starting today, all educational institutions will discuss in primary and secondary schools "The Three Heroes," a Martí's article dedicated to Simón Bolívar and important heroes of Latin America. In senior high school, professional technical education, and pedagogical schools, texts by the Apostle (José Martí) about Our America will also be debated.

All of this aims to recall what the National Hero of Cuba, José Martí, foresaw regarding the ambitions of the United States.

Osorio noted that the Cerro municipality has 68 schools, seven at different educational levels and one pedagogical school, and that classes are resuming in a year dedicated to the centenary of the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro. (Source: Prensa Latina)
