Havana, January 6 - Power service was affected yesterday starting at 5:16 a.m. and could not be restored by early this morning. The maximum impact due to the generation capacity deficit yesterday was 1863 MW at 6:20 p.m., exceeding the planned amount due to the shutdown of Unit 5 at the Nuevitas Power Plant and higher-than-forecast demand.
The energy production of the 34 new photovoltaic solar parks was 2884 MWh, with 560 MW as the maximum power delivered during the average hour with this generation source.
The availability of the National Electric System (SEN) at 6:30 a.m. was 1240 MW, with a demand of 2192 MW, and 965 MW affected by the deficit. During the average time, an impact of 1100 MW is estimated.
Unit 5 of the Mariel Power Plant, Unit 5 of the Nuevitas Power Plant, Unit 1 of the Santa Cruz Power Plant, and Units 1 and 2 of the Felton Power Plant are currently out of service. Unit 2 of the Santa Cruz Power Plant and Unit 4 of the Cienfuegos Power Plant are undergoing maintenance.
The limitations in thermal generation are 441 MW.
Ninety-seven distributed generation plants with a capacity of 860 MW are out of service due to fuel shortages, along with the Regla Power Plant (48 MW), the Moa Fuel Oil Plant (106 MW), and an additional 145 MW unavailable due to a lack of lubricant, for a total of 1159 MW.
During peak hours, the Santa Cruz Power Plant's Unit 1 (65 MW), Nuevitas Power Plant's Unit 5, and Felton Power Plant's Unit 1 (125 MW, currently being started up) are expected to come online, along with the recovery of 48 MW from the Regla Power Plant's generators.
This forecast predicts an availability of 1533 MW and a maximum demand of 3300 MW, for a deficit of 1767 MW, so if the expected conditions are maintained, an impact of 1797 MW is predicted during this time. (Source: Electric Union) (Photo: Cubadebate)
