Longina Canta a Corona Troubadours Festival returns to Santa Clara

Santa Clara, Jan 6. - Many are eager to participate in the conversation between the Cuban singer-songwriter Silvio Rodríguez and troubadours, next Saturday, January 10, at the Martí Provincial Library in Santa Clara. The wisdom of "The Sorcerer's Apprentice" will be shared, and it will surely be the opportune moment to talk about music, songs, poetry, chords, and inspirations, as well as about emotions, certainties, loyalties, convictions, and integrity.

The novelty of this year's 30th Longina Sings to Corona Troubadour Festival—from January 7th to 11th in the center of the country—will allow us to get closer to the human being, the creator, the artist, the man of thought and legacy, to whom this edition of the event is dedicated. For this reason, the concert on Friday, January 9th at 9:00 p.m. at the Camilo Cinema and the exhibition by photojournalist Kaloian Santos Cabrera, "Carto" (photographs) from one of Silvio's tours, will open on the first day at the Pórtico Gallery at 5:00 p.m.

At the festival, sponsored annually by the Hermanos Saíz Association, the repudiation of the United States' attacks on Venezuela will be felt by all the young Cuban and international artists attending. "Will Silvio sing, will he play…?" many are asking. Whether he does it or not, many of his songs have become anthems for just causes, like the one Cuba supports.

The 30th edition of the renowned Longina Festival—a permanent tribute to Manuel Corona—also offers special events at the theater of the Marta Abreu Central University of Las Villas, the Casa del Joven Creador (House of the Young Creator), the Centro Latinoamericano (Latin American Center), the Mejunje and Luna Naranja cultural centers, the provincial headquarters of the UNEAC (National Union of Writers and Artists of Cuba), the Guiñol Theater, and the Museum of Decorative Arts. Events will also take place in several venues in Manicaragua, Santo Domingo, and Caibarién, the latter being the site of a pilgrimage to the tomb of the composer of Longina, Santa Cecilia, and Aurora, among other songs.

A highly anticipated concert will also delight the audience at the Mejunje on Saturday the 10th at 9:00 p.m., featuring the 2025 National Music Prize winner, Amaury Pérez Vidal, who has not performed in our country for years.

Among others, Cuban artists Nelson Valdés, Adrián Berazaín, Tony Ávila, Marta Campos, Rey Montalvo, Ariel Barreiros, Pedro Beritán, Yeni Turiño, Lucía Travieso, Jesús Pérez, Santa Massiel, Erick Sánchez, Dúo Mango, Roly Berrío, Irina González, Enrique Téllez, Leonardo García, and the members of Trovuntitis will share their art.

From other parts of the world, members of Ella Trova from Colombia, Ernesto Luis from Venezuela, Xóchitl Ramos and Darío Parga from Mexico, Anita Tripodi Paz from Argentina, and Tobias Thiele from Germany, among other artists, will perform in Santa Clara. They will join local artists to demonstrate the power of song in these turbulent times. (Source: Juventud Rebelde)
