Cuban government reports decrease in dengue and chikungunya cases

Havana, January 6 - The Cuban Presidency reported on its website about the epidemiological situation in the country following a meeting between Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez and the country's health and scientific authorities.

Deputy Minister Carilda Peña García reported on Monday a decrease in febrile syndromes, dengue, and chikungunya. Although the endemic channel remains in the epidemic phase in Cuba, there are signs of improvement.

The vector control strategy for 2026 has already begun. Emphasis is placed on adulticide treatment to prevent new breeding of virus-carrying mosquitoes.

During the meeting, an evaluation of the Stimul W electrical stimulator for chronic post-chikungunya arthralgia was presented.

Dr. Yamilé Valdés González explained the study demonstrating the effectiveness of Stimul W in adults. It seeks to relieve joint symptoms following the acute stage of the disease: inflammation and pain. (Source: TeleSur)
