Camagüey, Jan 9. - Solid waste collection remains a key issue to be prioritized in the territory during the current calendar year, due to the irregularities currently affecting this service and compromising the sanitary-hygienic situation in the communities, primarily in the provincial capital.
The absence of garbage collection equipment, organizational deficiencies, staff shortages, and social indiscipline stand out as the main causes affecting the provision of the service, explained Bárbaro Osorio de los Reyes, director of the Communal Services Company in Camagüey.
He emphasized that the province does not have the full capacity and means to collect the excessively generated daily waste in the neighborhoods. However, efforts are being made to recover specialized equipment and techniques, which will enable reaching more sites that currently lack stable collection services and strengthening areas where micro-dumps are proliferating.
On the other hand, unattractive job offers and the remuneration for this work are gaps that have hindered the implementation of the activity in previous stages, stated the director of Communal Services.
With the aim of achieving greater sustainability in communal hygiene in Camagüey, strategies are being developed by the territorial authorities and the governing entity itself.

Given the proliferation of micro and macro dumps that complicate hygiene in neighborhoods and Agramonte demarcations, it is essential to seek alternatives that contribute to cleaning and sanitizing the environment, thereby ensuring better environmental health.
