The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela reaffirms its Historical Stance of Brotherhood with Cuba

Caracas, January 12 – Venezuela, in an official statement, ratified its "historical stance regarding relations with the Republic of Cuba, in accordance with the United Nations Charter and International Law, and the free exercise of self-determination and national sovereignty."

The statement emphasized that the relationship with Cuba and the Caribbean "has been historically founded on brotherhood, solidarity, cooperation, and complementarity."

Likewise, Venezuela reaffirmed that "international relations must be governed by the principles of International Law, non-intervention, the sovereign equality of States, and the self-determination of peoples."

"We reiterate that political and diplomatic dialogue is the only path to peacefully settle controversies of any nature," added the text, dated in Caracas this Sunday, January 11, 2026.

Caracas's statement comes in parallel to recent declarations by Cuba's highest authorities in response to pressures and threats from the United States.

From Havana, President Miguel Díaz-Canel stated that "Cuba is a free, independent, and sovereign nation."

In a message on platform X, he indicated that those who "rant hysterically" against the nation do so "consumed with rage" over the Cuban people's decision to maintain their own political model. (Text and Photo: Cubadebate)
