Scientific programs strengthen Camagüey's tourism

Camagüey, January 12 – The tourism sector in the province is being strengthened through the implementation of development strategies that ensure alignment with territorial scientific and technical programs.

This was affirmed by Master of Science Niurvys Osorio Sánchez, Deputy Delegate of Science, Technology, and Innovation for the Territorial Delegation of the Ministry of Science, Technology and Environment (CITMA, for its acronym in Spanish).

The specialist stated that among the strategic lines in sustainable local tourism management, the territorial program stands out.

She considered that the smokeless industry has been resilient in the context of climate change, a project that has been implemented since 2022.

The initiative is in the process of registering the Turismo Azul (Blue Tourism) brand with the Industrial Property Office and undergoing an interference search.

Tourism in the province also prioritizes the communication management plan for the sector through the use of digital signage, led by the micro, small, and medium-sized enterprise (MSME) Moroco, with some results that will strengthen all aspects of signage within tourism.

"Also within this line is the intelligent system for energy management at the Camagüey Ciudad Hotel Complex, directed by the Ignacio Agramonte Loynaz University.

Meanwhile, the project called Circular Economy in Hotels, advised by the Tourism Training Center, has circularity indicators for each of the micro-processes in a hotel. A procedure for applying the circular economy in hotels is also being implemented.

Added to this is the project Innovative Alternative for Sustainable Tourism Gastronomy, which is being tested on agroecological farms in the region; it aims to obtain productions that allow for hotel self-supply. (Text: Lázaro David Najarro Pujol/Radio Camagüey) (Photo: Internet)
