Remains of 32 fallen combatants Arrive in Cuba from Venezuela

Havana, Jan 15. - The remains of the 32 Cuban combatants who fell in the line of duty during the United States attack against Venezuela on January 3rd arrived in Havana today.

The people of Cuba will pay tribute to them in solemn ceremonies beginning this Thursday in the capital and extending tomorrow to all provinces and municipalities of the country.

The funeral rites began on the tarmac of the José Martí International Airport, where family members, authorities, and citizens will accompany the heroes on their final journey along Rancho Boyeros Avenue to the headquarters of the Ministry of the Revolutionary Armed Forces (MINFAR, for its acronym in Spanish).

Starting at 10:00 AM (local time) this Thursday, the public can visit that institution to pay their respects until the end of the day.

Yesterday, the Caribbean nation announced that the combatants will receive a posthumous promotion in military rank, as a worthy and deserved tribute to their heroism.

As part of the Cuban people's tribute, the residents of the capital will gather on Friday, the 16th, at the Anti-Imperialist Tribune to express their homage in a March of the Combatant People.

That same day, at 09:00 AM, simultaneous ceremonies will be held in all provincial capitals, while at 04:00 PM the heroes will be laid to rest in the Pantheons of the Fallen for the Defense of their respective localities.

Each municipality in the country will carry out acts of posthumous tribute.

Cuban authorities reiterated that the combatants were victims of a new criminal act of aggression and state terrorism.

"They knew how to elevate the solidarity sentiment of millions of Cubans with their heroism and reaffirm the revolutionary commitment to the brotherhood among peoples," they emphasized. (Source: Prensa Latina)
