Cienfuegos, Jan 17. - The delegation of the Chamber of Commerce of the Republic of Cuba in Cienfuegos highlighted the progress made in supporting local businesses and consolidating international trade ties during 2025.
Kirenia Ferrer Ruiz, delegate of the Chamber of Commerce of the Republic of Cuba in the aforementioned province, detailed to Prensa Latina the results of the work during 2025, as the leading entity in advising, supporting, and preparing companies and entities in the territory focused on exports.
Ferrer Ruiz highlighted the case of the state trading company ARICUMAY S.U.R.L., a small and medium-sized enterprise (MSME) that emerged from the company Cítricos Arimao, which is currently negotiating two economic partnership contracts with entities from France and Colombia, scheduled to be signed in 2026.
The II International Exposur Fair 2025, organized with key support from the Chamber, was consolidated as an essential platform for commercial promotion.
During the event, potential Canadian clients interested in exportable products such as habanero chili peppers, pompano fish and plantain stems, pineapple, and bananas were secured. These contacts represent one of the biggest commercial achievements of the year and reflect the effective support of the Cienfuegos delegation.
The Chamber ended 2025 with 54 member companies—43 state-owned and 11 private—and executed four strategic objectives aligned with the National Economic and Social Development Plan through 2030.
Among the actions carried out are support for exports, business training, inter-institutional coordination, and trade diplomacy with countries such as Guyana, Canada, India, China, and Uganda.
For 2026, Ferrer Ruiz noted, the institution plans to strengthen its membership base, deepen digital transformation, diversify exports—with an emphasis on CARICOM markets, Canada, the European Union, and Asia—and promote the materialization of foreign investment projects in the territory.
“2026 should focus on consolidating the achievements of the previous year, moving towards a more proactive and digital service model, with measurable results in exports, investments, and strengthening the business ecosystem,” stated Ferrer Ruiz.
The Chamber of Commerce in Cienfuegos thus reaffirms its role as a strategic articulator of local economic development, under the principles of innovation, inclusion, and sustainability. (Text and Photo: PL)
