Carlos Bastidas Provincial Journalism Contest announced

Camagüey, Jan 22. - The call for entries for the Carlos Bastidas Provincial Journalism Contest, awarded each year in March during Press Day according to the established regulations, maintains five categories: written press, radio, television, hypermedia, and graphic journalism.

Journalism students with works published in media outlets of the province can compete under equal conditions.

The deadline for submitting entries is Friday, February 27, 2026. The Jury's work, financially supported by Resolution No. 27/24, will take place from Tuesday, March 3 to Tuesday, March 10, 2026.

The Jury will consist of five colleagues of recognized professional prestige from the media in each category. The selection will be made once the call for entries is closed, to avoid having to replace a colleague if they submit entries for the contest or have a family member competing. Therefore, the Juries will be formed on Monday, March 2, 2026.

The submission, limited to only five works per contestant in each category, must be delivered to the UPEC, with ALL the author's personal data:

Exceptionally this year, the contest includes a special award. Under equal conditions and for a single prize, all UPEC members can participate with a piece reflecting the life and work of the Commander in Chief and his legacy in Camagüey. The journalistic material must have been published during 2025 and will be a tribute to Fidel Castro in the year of his Centennial.
